Where is Maracajaú Located?

The Villas Maracajaú lies on the north side of the Village of Maracajaú.

It is an easy 50 minute drive from the new international airport of Natal. It is located 50 km/31 miles north of the state capital, Natal.

The main gateway to Maracajaú and the rest of the North Coast from the airpot and from Natal is by Highway 101 (BR 101), a well-maintained, traffic-free highway.

WHAT TO DO IN MARACAJAÚ?

In Maracajaú there are activities for every taste, from deep dives in shipwrecks, through horseback riding, beach and dune buggy rides along deserted beaches, and calm moments appreciating the sun set from the top of the dunes.

But there’s more; river rafting, eco-tours. sport fishing, quad-bike riding, boating and Maracajaú is a base to launch other adventures discovering the North Coast of Rio Grande do Norte.

Beach & Dune Buggy Rides: Traditional in Rio Grande do Norte, beach buggies are the best way to appreciate the beaches and dunes of the area and the incredible sights and nature the region offers.

Fishing: Sporting fishing is allowed in Maracajaú and there is an infinite number of fish in the area. Here you can easily find yellowtail snappers, mullets, dentexes, mackerels, barracudas, croakers and soles, among others.

But it’s the snorkeling and diving that Maracajaú is most famous.

If the string of shallow coral reefs that grace Natal’s gorgeous, sandy coastline could be called a necklace, then Maracajaú Reef is its biggest, most beautiful jewel.

Known as Parrachos de Maracajaú, (coral reef of Maracajau) this complex reef formation full of coral, iridescent fish and other marine life, covers over 3.5 acres (15 sq km) and is about 7km (4mi) offshore from Maracajaú beach.
